Shenandoah Police Department

Areas of Responsibility Program

Innovative Policing

The Shenandoah Police Department places high value on fostering long lasting and positive relationships with its residents and commercial partners. It is imperative to enlist the assistance of these partners in creating an atmosphere that not only deters crime but reduces the opportunities for crimes to be committed. To this end it is the policy of the Shenandoah Police Department to assign twelve specific geographical areas of the city to individual officers. Within this area each officer is tasked with numerous duties including the fostering and maintenance of these community partnerships, as well as, taking personal responsibility to educate, evaluate, and mitigate crime conducive conditions.
